Hot plate and hot plate stirrer

The heating plates are small, portable and autonomous desktop devices, which have one or more electric heating elements, and which are used to heat containers with liquids in a controlled way. In the laboratory, hot plates are generally used to heat glassware or its contents. They have a power selector that allows you to adjust the thermal emission and the time necessary to heat a certain container. There are also hot plates with stirrer.

To use this equipment, a suitable installation with a differential switch must be available. As well as always use grounded sockets, avoiding the use of multiple plugs, and if they are used, that they have an earth connection. Effective preventive maintenance must be carried out to ensure that the machine is disconnected from electrical power for maintenance, adjustment or repair operations.

Hot plate and hot plate with stirring

The heating plate is a benchtop laboratory equipment whose function is to heat containers with liquids in a controlled manner and is used for boiling processes, evaporation of liquids, distillation, among others.

The stirring hotplate varies in that it has a stirrer element attached. In general, it is a magnet or stirring bar that is introduced into the liquid and allows that while the substance is heated, it is also stirred automatically.

It has a surface made of aluminum, a non-corrosive material that provides very good heat transfer and temperature uniformity. They are available in single plate models, as well as multi-post models, arranged in even numbers.

Our best-selling warming blanket:

YR Multi Heating Blankets are designed for repetitive extraction (Kjeldahl, Soxhlet and other extraction procedures), laboratory reflux and distillation applications.

Space-saving design of the extraction mantle.
Independent and separate temperature control in each different condition
The internal heating element consists of soft fiberglass, protected against damage to the flask.
Precise PID temperature control meets the needs of high-precision experiments

General characteristics of the heating plate:

This instrument is used to perform serological tests, agglutination procedures, and incubation; to name a few. Which makes the hot plate very essential equipment in clinical laboratories, microbiological laboratories, and research laboratories.

  • It has a surface made of aluminum, a non-corrosive material that provides very good heat transfer and temperature uniformity.
  • They are available in single plate models, as well as multi-post models, arranged in even numbers.
  • They work with several containers or object holders.
  • They have a capacity that ranges from several millimeters to 10 L or more.
  • They are designed to withstand heavy loads.
  • They operate at a temperature ranging from 100 ° C to 750 ° C.
  • Some models include a magnetic stir bar.

Steps to use a hot plate with stirring:

First, the reagent and the solvent to be heated are introduced into the appropriate container.

Second the magnetic core is added.

Third, the container with the solution is positioned on the plate.

The equipment is connected to the electrical current and the agitator is connected

Then the thermostat is set to the temperature with which the solution is going to work.

At the end, the thermostat is turned off to later disconnect the agitator and at the end of the use of the plate, disconnect it from the electrical source.
