Reagent & Consumables

Within the wide range of reagents and chemicals, the most commonly used substances in the laboratory are nitric acid, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, acetone, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, uric acid, acrylic acid, methanol and ethanol; these substances have various uses within the laboratory.

In addition to this, biologists and chemists also use organic reagents such as sodium benzoate, lipids, sugars, base alcohols and organic acids; nitric acid, sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide are commonly used as chemical reagents in the laboratory.

Types of Reagents and Consumables that a Laboratory may need

Reagent

These substances are used as chemical reagents because they react with other substances to give a different chemical compound as a product. These reagents are also used in the laboratory for different processes such as repairing equipment, manufacturing chemicals and performing biochemical experiments.

Another chemical compound commonly used in the laboratory is hydrochloric acid, this acid is widely used in the laboratory because it is one of the strongest acids used in scientific experiments. Hydrochloric acid is used to dissolve minerals.

Consumables

Type of accessories and consumables:

Disposable microtome blade (low profile).
Kalstein YRA18 low profile disposable blades are made of highly durable stainless steel.
An ingenious PTFE coating process on the blade allows for section stretching and quality sectioning tapes in routine histology.
Thin but durable, the 80 mm long x 8 mm high x 0.25 mm thick blades are specifically designed for use with Kalstein microtomes or cryostats classified and labeled as in vitro diagnostic medical devices for histological medical diagnosis, e.g. cancer diagnosis.

Disposable Microtome Blade (High Profile)
The YRA19 high profile disposable microtome blade is suitable for all paraffin-embedded tissue blocks in routine applications.

Our Best Selling Reagents and Consumables

Among our range of histology consumables you are sure to find a cassette especially suited to meet your specific needs when processing normal tissue specimens, single and multiple biopsies as well as large specimens. Most models can be used with automatic labelers.

Histology and pathology are sciences that are often used together in biology and medical laboratories. Histology and pathology lab kits are tools that help prepare and examine tissues.

Microtomes produce thin slices of tissue, and tissue processors automatically prepare tissue samples for study, freezing stages freeze samples quickly and uniformly, and cryostats keep them frozen. Thermoconductor platforms keep the sample at a constant temperature, hot or cold, while samples are being transported or analyzed. Automated slide dryers, stainers and labelers are available to help minimize errors, time and expense when preparing sample slides. Of course, once the samples have been processed and are ready for analysis, microscopes are used to analyze the tissues.
