Homogenizers consist of an electric motor connected to a vertically placed rubber part located outside the center. The motor rotates rapidly, steadily and in a circular motion when the rubber part is pressed. To carry out the mixing process, the test tube containing the sample must be placed on top of the rubber part and apply pressure, the motor movement is transmitted to the sample and a vortex is created. Homogenizers should be equipped with configuration buttons to handle the speed or other characteristics. There are usually two functions involved: continuous operation and pulse operation, the latter activated when the rubber part is pressed.
Homogenizers are ideal instruments when it is desired to develop uniform samples for study or when it is desired to perform cell resuspension for knowing specific elements.
