Fluorometer Usage Recommendations

Verify that you have the secondary fluorescence filter in place for reading.
In the case of the absorbance measurement verify that it has the appropriate filter, i.e. the interference filter.
Be careful to press the DEL button, as if you delete the data, it cannot be retrieved.
Programming the fluorometer for the calculation of the results of qualitative techniques.
You should place the equipment on a flat table free of mechanical vibrations.
It should be placed in a place where ventilation is suitable but also where it cannot be subjected to excessive dust.
Avoid placing equipment near heat sources such as heating or sunlight.
Do not place heavy objects on your computer.
If you are not connected to power for more than 72 hours, existing data will be lost.
The instrument should be warm before doing any procedure.
A periodic check of the wavelength adjustment is carried out weekly, when it is suspected to have varied.
Check 0 and 100% T each time readings are to be made and when wavelength changes.
The desired wavelength is selected.

Maintenance and conservation of Fluorometers

Cleaning the interference and secondary fluorescence filters.
Cleaning of internal fluorescence patterns.
Change of lamps.
Change the fuses.
Infrared filter cleaning and/or replacement.

General cleaning of the Fluorometer

Turn off the instrument and disconnect the power cord.
Wipe the inner part of the equipment with a moistened ethanol cotton, and dry it with another clean, dry cotton. Don’t leave any cotton leftovers anywhere.
To prevent dust and dirt from entering the computer, make sure the cart is always inserted and the front door is closed.
Check the operation of the halogen lamp, if a change is required, you must follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
